Fiel crew

Tubby Creek Farm

Full time-Salaried

Mar 13

Tubby Creek Farm is hiring 3 to 5 Field Crew workers for the 2023 Season. Field Crew will work closely with farmers Josephine and Randy as well as a Production Manager to produce high quality, Certified Naturally Grown produce for our CSA program, farmers markets, and wholesale orders.

We started Tubby Creek Farm in 2011, and have steadily grown in production and profitability. The farm features five acres in vegetable production, a perennial fruit and berry orchard, four high tunnels, a greenhouse, and a 1500 square foot wash/pack and cold storage facility. We also raise laying hens and kiko-cross meat goats on pasture.

Growing good food for people is meaningful and rewarding work. The wide variety of hands-on, outdoor tasks changes with the seasons. Working with nature is challenging and requires creative problems solving and flexibility.

Located on 70 acres in Ashland, Mississippi, we grow over 30 different types of vegetables using natural, synthetic-chemical free growing methods. We also pasture raise laying hens and meat goats. We distribute our products through a 125 member CSA and two weekly farmers markets.

Work with farmers Josephine and Randy and the Production Manager to implement the Crop Plan, including, but not limited to the following:

Field Work. Work with the farmers to prepare the field for planting. Prepare, plant and tend high tunnel crops. Work in the seed-starting greenhouse, transplant and direct seed crops in the field.

Harvest and Wash Pack. Harvest vegetable crops in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining a high level of quality control. Rinse, sort, weigh and pack produce after it is harvested from our fields, including preparing produce for market, packing CSA shares, and filling wholesale orders.
